MinistriesIn accordance with the Diocese 2000 and Beyond programme, Christ The King Parish church has sought to develop the seven basic and essential ministries. Namely:
Not only have these ministries been identified to serve the people of God but to allow members of the church to involve themselves in the life of the church where they can use their gifts to the honour and glory of God. To sign up for any one of these ministries please visit our sign up form and you will be contacted about meeting times. Christian FormationChristian Formation is the development of a person into an everyday christian. Prayer, Praise and Worship helps to form an individual into a person who follows the christian way of living and this ministry seeks to form that person. Members' participation in quiet days and renewal helps to mold our members into everyday christians. Pastoral Care and CounsellingThis ministry is performed by the visitation of our sick, shut ins and the hospitalized members of our parish. Counselling is provided for Engaged couples, Parents, Godparents, and anyone seeking some sort of counselling. Training is provided for members who feel that they can help in being a counsellor for this ministry. Christian EducationThis very important ministry in the life of the church is administered through Sunday School to develop young minds in the way they should go through to confirmation where they become adult members of the Body of Christ. Bible study is also practiced in the organisations to continue ongoing christian education. EvangelismThis ministry is important to reach those that do not normally attend church and even to those that do attend but fail to live thier lives fully in God. Training sessions are held to equip our members to proclaim the Word of God to all people. YouthYouth are not the church of tomorrow but the church of today! In this ministry we incorporate all the other six basic ministries to mold the youth in how they can be involved in their church. The Junior C.Y.M. and the Christian Youth Movement meet every Friday at 6:30 pm to learn about the 'Jesus Rules' and try to incorporate it into everyday living. Social OutreachSocial Outreach is the main way the surrounding community can feel the impact of the church. Colby House, our home for teenaged boys, is our chief project at this time. Futhermore, Unity Citizens House and Ridgeland primary school have both been adopted by Christ The King and many other meaningful social projects have been undertaken as the need arises. We are presently starting another programme where we build one home for a homeless family every year. CommunicationsIt is very important to have good communication and at Christ The King we endeavour to communicate effectively through our weekly bulletins which we send to our members abroad so they may keep abreast of whats happening in their church. This website is another fruit of our effort in communicating God's Word. There are seven committees in our parish that focus on each one of these ministries so as to fully implement programmes that cater to these basic needs. |
