Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry flows directly from the mission of the Church, it is threefold, to proclaim the good news of salvation, to become a community of faith continually being transformed by God's love and grace, and to bring about God's kingdom of love, peace and Justice through the Ministry, or service of the community members to one another. Youth Ministry reached out to youth in friendship, proclaims to youth the good news of salvation, invites youth to become active members of the parish community, teaches youth the mysteries of the faith, and calls youth to begin meaningful service.

The goal of the Youth Ministry

1. Youth Ministry works to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

  • The first essential for building an effective work is to establish it in prayer. Two areas in prayer are critical: Praying for the youth and praying with them.

  • Praise: The second key is praise. Praise is an exciting activity for teen to experience. Young People love to sing. They Love to sing to the Lord.

  • Bible teaching: The third essential is bible teaching. Teens need to know what The Bible says about them and that God is concerned about their lives.

  • Setting standards: Another encouragement for young people is to set standards for them. This forth key is important to Youth Ministry because it allows teen to know what you expect from them.

  • Activities: The fifth ingredient is a time for group activities. Activities should never he the major part of a program. The other components of meeting described (Prayer, worship, and Bible study) should take up the majority of the time, keeping the primary focus on God. If youth spend most of their hours together praying, worshipping and learning about the lord, they will be more likely to think and act like him during their activity time. Activities are a good time for them to let their hair down and have fun. It also provides opportunity to bring friends who might not come to a youth meeting. Activities also provide an avenue for youth to decide to give their heart to the lord.

  • Praise for young people: The last essential for an effective Youth Ministry is to provide praise for young people, for their good conduct. Once the standard has been set, let them know, when they meet it. Tell them often what a privilege it is to be their youth leader and how proud you are of them every time you go somewhere without a negative incident.

2. Youth Ministry seeks to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community. Youth Ministry hopes to help youth mature into well-rounded, spiritually alive people who are living out the mission of the Church.
